BMI, BMR & TDEE – Most-asked Questions

What does the BMI calculator tell me?

The body mass index puts your weight in relation to height. The online BMI calculator shows the result plus WHO category instantly.

Is BMI alone enough?

Not really. BMI chart men and BMI chart women are rough guides; muscle mass, age and fat distribution aren’t covered. Consider body-fat measurement or talk to a health professional for nuance.

How is my calorie need (TDEE) calculated?

First, the basal metabolic rate (BMR) via Mifflin-St Jeor formula, then multiplied by your activity factor (PAL). The result is your daily TDEE—total daily energy expenditure.

Is there an “ideal weight” number?

Some tools spit out an ideal weight, but treat it as a ballpark figure. Far more relevant are how you feel, blood markers and muscle percentage.

Tips for healthy weight loss or gain

Remember: Health Is More Than a Number

Maybe you’re unhappy with your body right now. You’re not alone, and it’s brave to admit that. A broken leg is visible, but mental strain often isn’t— yet it’s just as real. If weight, food or the mirror dominate your thoughts, talk to someone you trust or reach out anonymously—for example to the National Eating Disorder helplines. You don’t have to go through this alone; seeking help is strength, not weakness.
